46 lectures + 32 labs = 4 credits
The course will be divided in two main sections, Horses (Units 1 and 2) Food animal and exotic animal species (Units 3 and 4). The previously covered small animal anatomy content will serve as a basis for this course. Emphasis will be on the anatomy of large animals (horse and ruminants), which is vital to preparing CVM students to practice veterinary medicine and enter the medical profession. Anatomical concepts of the various regions of the body will be correlated with systemic anatomy and with topographical and other regional anatomy. Dissections, prosections, imaging, and clinical approaches/cases will be emphasized throughout our study of anatomical structures. Clinical applications are incorporated throughout the course in alignment with the goal of producing competent clinicians.
